Meet threatens to send 1 lakh youth to Lanka

COIMBATORE: The World Tamils Protection Conference has threatened to send one lakh youth from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka to agitate if the island nation fails to resettle the 3.50 lakh Lankan Tamils from Mulveli camp at their respective villages within 100 days

. Passing a resolution to this effect at the valedictory of two-day World Tamils Protection Conference held at VOC Park Grounds on Sunday, the meet resolved to ask the Sri Lankan government to withdraw all the forces from the Tamils-dominant areas. It also sought the Lankan government to refrain from settling islanders in areas where majority of the Tamils reside. In another resolution, the meet resolved to set up a permanent secretariat for protecting the world Tamils. Dr Ramasamy, Deputy Chief Minister, Penang province, Malaysia, said that this secretariat would ensure Tamils living across the globe the rights to livelihood, land and politics. The meet condemned the UN for its failure to act on incidents of war crimes and human rights violations.
